How to use this Plug-in?

You only have to decrease the speed of your clip using iMovie built-in speed control (1), select the SebSofts - Slow Motion Smoother Effect from the Effects List (2) then, apply it! (3).
    Quick Start

What does these setting sliders do and how to use them?

    1. Link 2 Next (Link to Next Clip) Slider

    Link to Next Clip

If the slider is closer to "Yes" than from "No", the last frame of the clip is smoothed with the first frame of the next clip.
    2. Mark DF (Mark Dead Frames) Slider

    Link to Next Clip

If the slider is closer to "Yes" than from "No", each dead frame turns black and a text informs you that you can delete it.

    3. Clip Source (Clip comes from) Slider

    Clip Source

If the slider is closer to "Camcorder" than from "File", the plug-in assumes that the clip you want to smooth comes from your camcorder. If your clip has been imported from a file, set this option to "File".

How to slow down a clip not linked to the next clip?

  • Put or select a clip in the iMovie Timeline.
  • Slow down the clip using iMovie built-in speed control.
  • Go to the iMovie Effects Panel, select the SebSofts - Slow Motion Smoother Effect and apply it to the slowed down clip.

  • NOTE:
You can notice that the last frames are not smoothed, the clip seems to pause shortly before the end. This is because there is no key frame after the last one of the clip: this makes the Slow Motion Smoother Effect unable to interpolate the last frames. We call these not smoothed frames "Dead Frames".
The Slow Motion Smoother Effect provides you with a convenient way to suppress these dead frames. This is explained in the last section of the tutorial: How to delete dead frames?

How to slow down only a part of a clip?

  • If the clip you want to slow down is linked to the next clip, set the Link 2 Next slider close to Yes.
  • Apply the Effect.
